In 2005, the Indonesian Government made an agreement with the United Nations (UN) which contained synergistic cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Meanwhile for achieving the SDG goals, we were needed more time, because the process of intergrating PBB values with the applied curriculum at that time needs to get fusion.
Through education aspect we can achieve sustainable development for a better earth in the future. ESD can be interpreted as a process of facilitating the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values so that individuals and groups are able to make a positive contribution to reduce the ecological footprint and also maintaining biodiversity.
We had been providing intensive assist to 43 schools. The activity is giving training to improve school quality, and inculcation of educational values related to sustainable development. This program used comperhensive approach includes teaching and learning, school culture and ethos, students, community, school environment, games, supervision, and evaluation.
In this program we targeting to formal schools, communities, and people surrounding WWF-Indonesia’s work areas, both landscapes and seascapes. In order to realizing this program, we also collaborate with local organization which intergrated to WWF-Indonesia, such as Earth Hour, Marine Buddies, and Panda Mobile.
All of teachers, students, and the community are excited and active in every activity. It is also because we provided many games which was tucked in the middle of activity. The usage of easier language to understand made the students kept their attention until the end of the activity.
Pustaka Borneo is a site that provides literacy, information, education and as a place to share stories and experiences about the activities of WWF Indonesia's ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) assisted schools, sustainable villages, activities of partner organizations and communities in the Heart of Borneo. This site not only functions as a means of finding information, but also as a publication and communication media in improving the quality of assisted schools, village communities and the capacity of partner institutions. The development of the Rumah Belajar activity was applied by forming the concept of a sustainable village.
Papua has the potential for diverse natural resources such as forestry, agriculture, plantations, livestock, fisheries, and also marine. All the natural resources that God has provided need to be preserved and utilized sustainably.
Pustaka Sumatra is a medium to provide information and share about the activities of assisted schools in the Sumatra region. This site not only functions as a means of finding information, but also as a publication and communication medium for schools in improving the quality of the school itself. The development of Rumah Belajar activities is carried out through the concept of Sustainable Village.
The main activities carried out by the Learning Center are around conservation education or supporting conservation, with themes tailored to the target audience.
