CONSERVATION MONTH AT SEKOLAH PELITA HARAPAN WITH PANDA MOBILE
By: Pratama Aditya Haryanto
Panda Mobile was involved in the Conservation Month activities organized by Sekolah Pelita Harapan, Lippo Village Karawaci last Monday (13/03). With the theme "Endangered Species", Panda Mobile shared information with 2nd grade students.
The Panda Mobile activity began with a presentation by Pratama Aditya and Moch. Sani Firmansyah. They both gave presentations related to the six umbrella species that are the focus of WWF-Indonesia's conservation. In turn, Pratama and Sani explained the characteristics, habitat, survival, food, threats faced, and how to save these animals.
The students listened carefully.
However, due to time constraints, the 2nd grade students of SD Pelita Harapan, Lippo Village Karawaci were directed to the next activity, which was to create a simple infographic related to the six umbrella animals. To get the infographic material, the students then began to look for information about the umbrella animals that they had to write about.
Each group was assigned a different umbrella animal to find out about. The students drew varied pictures of the animals. After drawing the animal shapes, they then provided information around the animal pictures.
This activity was fun because the students worked together to contribute to their group's paperboard. After finishing, they then appointed one of their colleagues to stand in front and hold the carton that had been filled with infographics. All six groups were assessed by the Panda Mobile team. The group that created the orangutan and whale shark infographics won because the data was complete and the images were clear. They managed to amaze the other groups.
The activity was then closed by giving a plaque by SD Pelita Harapan to the WWF-Indonesia Panda Mobile. Through this activity, it is hoped that the students can really love the environment and protect it so that the animals remain sustainable.
