PANDA MOBILE AT KIDZART OPEN HOUSE EVENT
By: Dewinta Febriyanti (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
Creativity and conservation are two interesting things to do together. This was the case during Panda Mobile's visit on Saturday (01/10) to KidzArt, Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. KidzArt is a unique and creative place to learn because the activities are varied, including drawing, coloring, and making animal shapes from used paper.
Panda Mobile's visit to KidzArt was carried out in order to enliven KidzArt's open house activities. The event was attended by elementary school students from grade 1 to grade 6 who study at KidzArt. In addition to elementary students, there were also their parents who participated in this activity. Various activities were presented by the Panda Mobile team such as watching movies, storytelling, games, 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle), and water lab. The event on that day was also enlivened with face painting activities. Before starting the activity, the children were very enthusiastic to have their faces drawn with pictures of tigers, whales, butterflies, and so on. After the face painting, the children were divided into three groups accompanied by Panda Mobile volunteers for games, water observation, and 3R activities.
During the games activity, children were invited to play orangutan and tiger-themed cricket accompanied by Panda Mobile volunteers. The cricket contains facts about tigers and orangutans. The children took turns rolling the dice and reciting the animal facts listed on the game then the volunteer helped explain. From the game, children can learn to love animals that still exist by seeing them live freely in nature.
Besides playing cricket, the children were invited to watch the movie "Tiger Hunter" and "Plastic Planet". They were very happy to see the animation in both movies. The story in the movie taught them to care more about protecting the environment around them. Another creative activity done with the Panda Mobile team was transforming newsprint into a paper bag in a 3R activity. Accompanied by volunteers, the children were taught how to make a paper bag which they then decorated according to their own creativity.
The children who had done the play, movie, and 3R activities then made water observations using Panda Mobile's water lab facility. They wore lab coats and Panda hats. Accompanied by Panda Mobile's volunteers, the children were taught how to look at a bacteria in water through a microscope. They were very enthusiastic, to the point that some children were curious and wanted to check the drinking water they brought from home whether there were bacteria or not.
