Located at Indofood's Head Office in Jalan Sudirman, Jakarta, last Monday (29/9) the "Indofood Green Our Lives" program was inaugurated. This program is the beginning of Indofood's movement towards green living. They realize that in life one must also pay attention to the environment around them. Starting with activities that focus on waste management, Indofood provides three types of trash bins according to categories that will be placed in each division.
Joseph Bataona, Director of PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, said that everything should start small. "We must have a commitment within ourselves so that the earth we walk on can be maintained until our children and grandchildren grow up. This movement is expected to lead to a change in mindset that as individuals we care about future generations."
This program is fully supported by WWF-Indonesia. During the ceremony, the movie Trash was screened, which tells the story of waste in the Ciliwung River and its impact on the world. To increase the knowledge of the audience, WWF-Indonesia also conducted a demonstration of recycling by demonstrating the recycling of used t-shirts into multi-purpose bags. The event was closed with the symbolic inauguration of the program and a visit to the final disposal site of waste that has been separated according to its type.
Under the "Green Our Lives" program, there will be a series of education on waste management within Indofood for three months so that employees are more motivated and understand the benefits of the importance of proper waste disposal.
WWF-Indonesia's Marketing Director, Devy Suradji, said, "We hope this program will become Green Ourself, and grow within ourselves. Hopefully, the waste disposal program that has been carried out will not only apply in the office, but also in everyday life."
This program started by Indofood is expected to be the first step for a bigger transformation in the future and become a driving force for other offices to start a green lifestyle in order to create a better environment in Indonesia.
