JAVAN HAWK-EAGLE
Did you know that Javan hawk-eagle is considered as the inspiration of Garuda, the nation symbol of Indonesia?
Java endemic birds is qualified as an Endangered species on IUCN Red List because the population is very small. Convertion of forest make the habitat of this birds decreased and mostly just left in the forests of the mountains. Dominant hairy dark brown Eagle was indeed very dependent with the existence of the forest, both natural forest or open wooded area, close to the primary forests.
Not only the habitat had been destroyed, the Javan hawk-eagle is also frequently caught and sold as pet animals. Whereas, Javan hawk-eagle is a protected bird according to the Act of the Republic of Indonesia No. 5/1990 concerning Conservation of Living Resources and their Ecosystem, as well as reinforced through President Deccre No. 4/1993 of Wildlife and the National Flowers.
