MAKASSAR STRAIT & SULU SULAWESI SEASCAPE
The Derawan Islands Conservation Area in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province has been initiated since 1998 and was established in 2016 through the Decree of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia Number 87/KEPMEN-KP/2016. The area covers 285,266 hectares and includes small islands in Berau Regency, consisting of mangrove, seagrass and coral reef ecosystems.
