PANDA MOBILE DELIVERS CONSERVATION MESSAGE AT BOGOR LIBRARY
By: Muhammad Luthfy Abdullah (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
After last year Panda Mobile participated in enlivening the activities held by the Center for Library and Agricultural Technology Dissemination (Library), the same opportunity was also obtained by the Panda Mobile team with the concept of activities that are not much different. The event was held at the PUSTAKA Bogor building on September 20-21, 2016 with the theme "Growing Love of Science, Reading, and Writing". The Library Visit Day activity provides a new color for the routine of students who are busy with learning activities at school every day.
Unlike the usual Panda Mobile activities, the activity at that time the number of participants was quite large, about 500 children at the same time so that the participants were immediately divided into three groups. An introduction to WWF was done at each post. Activities at each post consisted of watching videos, coloring, and also games. The attractiveness of the Panda Mobile truck made all participants from various schools impatient to get their turn to take part in the activities. This was enough to make the Panda Mobile team overwhelmed to organize all activities at the event.
Storytelling activities from Kak Ryan and Kak Biyong were carried out when all schools had arrived. The theme of the storytelling was about plastic waste and also save energy with baby orangutan and Sumatran tiger puppets as the main characters. The storytelling started with fun songs. The children laughed occasionally as the characters acted funny and adorable.
After listening to storytelling, the activities on the Panda Mobile truck were not over yet. Participants from schools who had not gotten their turn to visit the Panda Mobile truck immediately gathered. Likewise, participants who are still curious about the Panda Mobile truck.
Akhmad Syaikhu, one of the PUSTAKA staff, appreciated the presence of Panda Mobile in the Bogor PUSTAKA Library Visit Day. "(Hopefully) this activity with Panda Mobile can be done regularly every year, of course with the same interests and goals. Where children are taught to respect the environment more and also think about (their fate) in the future while playing and getting something new," he hoped.
