By: Muhammad Azhari Lubis (volunteer Panda Mobile)
In the holy month of Ramadan this year, precisely on Friday (17/6), Panda Mobile held a sharing and breaking fast event together with the children of Kampung Melayu orphanage at the Satu Merah Theater where Ratna Sarumpaet lives. Panda Mobile's activities this time aim to further introduce and provide knowledge of the importance of protecting the environment and animals to the children of the Kampung Melayu Kecil orphanage and the children in the vicinity.
Before breaking their fast, the children had an activity with Panda Mobile. After getting acquainted with the volunteers and introducing WWF-Indonesia's conservation programs, the children were divided into 3 small groups, namely groups 1 and 2 consisting of elementary school children, and group 3 consisting of junior high school children.
Taking place in the main hall of the Satu Merah Theater, group 1 watched a movie about tiger poachers. The volunteers who accompanied them invited and gave them knowledge to always protect the environment and love animals. At the same time, group 2 played in the front yard to boost their morale. While group 3 made hydroponic plants from used bottles in the backyard of the One Red Theater and made water observations in the water laboratory in Panda Mobile. The activity of making hydroponic plants was very interesting for the junior high school students. Moreover, they can also find out how good water is for consumption from observing water using water laboratory equipment in Panda Mobile.
After the activities of each group were completed, the children gathered again in the main hall of the Satu Merah Theater to watch a film from WWF-Indonesia, namely "Sungai Untuk Semua". After watching the movie, Ratna Sarumpaet as the owner of Satu Merah Theater gave a speech to the children and thanked WWF-Indonesia, especially the Panda Mobile Team for providing environmental and animal education to the Kampung Melayu orphanage children. Ratna Sarumpaet hopes that the children can love and protect the environment and animals, especially the environment around Kampung Melayu. Adji Santoso as Brand & Partnership Manager WWF-Indonesia thanked Ratna Sarumpaet for giving space and place for WWF-Indonesia to share with the children of Kampung Melayu orphanage.
After the speech, when the Maghrib call to prayer came, WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile Team and the orphanage children broke their fast together and continued with Maghrib prayer in congregation. At the end of the event, the children gathered again in the main hall of the One Red Theater to listen to the storytelling presented by Kak Ryan. The children were very happy and enthusiastic to hear the story told by Kak Ryan about an orangutan who got lost and lost his mother.
A sweet surprise colored the breakfasting event. Atiqah Hasiholan, the daughter of Ratna Sarumpaet, came and approached the orphanage children. Joyful expressions immediately radiated on the children's faces. On this occasion, Atiqah Hasiholan also expressed her gratitude and was very happy with Panda Mobile's educational activities for the Kampung Melayu orphanage children. She also hopes that this environmental education activity from Panda Mobile will always be there for children and take place continuously. The event was closed with a group photo.
