PANDA MOBILE INVITES CIKEAS NATURE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PROTECT NATURE THROUGH LITERACY
By: Muhammad Gian Giffar (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
On Friday (06/04), Panda Mobile attended an invitation from Sekolah Alam Cikeas, Bogor to convey messages about nature conservation in an activity themed "Time to Stand Up for Wildlife with Literate". The activity, organized by Sekolah Alam Cikeas, aims to inspire students to contribute to environmental conservation efforts through various activities.
The day's activities began with an introduction by the Panda Mobile team. The students then gathered at the school amphitheater to listen to a story told by Kak Ian, a storyteller from Panda Mobile. Kak Ian delivered a story about how to protect the environment and packaged it into a funny fairy tale. The children seemed to be immersed in the fairy tale and occasionally laughed listening to the fairy tale.
Each class then did play activities, watched movies, discussed nature conservation, read books, made recycled works, observed water quality, and planted plants with hydroponic techniques.
One of the most interesting things was when Sani Firmansyah, WWF-Indonesia's Supporter Center Officer explained how to take photos or videos of wildlife in their natural habitat. He explained the components of the camera, its features, and how the camera works. "Sis, can the camera be damaged by animals?" asked Farel, a fourth grader. Sani answered the question by mentioning several animals known to have damaged cameras, including sun bears that often mistake the camera for a beehive and force open the camera.
In addition to activities in the Panda Mobile truck, the students also learned to protect nature in other ways, such as making recycled crafts made from used T-shirts that were turned into shopping bags, researching the water in their neighborhood through a water laboratory, and planting caisim plants using hydroponic media. The students were assisted by Panda Mobile volunteers and teachers in carrying out these activities.
At the end of the activity, the Cikeas Nature School students seemed to be more motivated to help protect the environment. They felt that they had gained a lot of knowledge from the activities that had been carried out that day that it turns out that efforts to protect the environment can start from ourselves and from small things, but can have a big effect.
