By: Dwina Sagitanova (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
On Monday (16/01), WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile visited SDN 01 Cilandak, located at Jalan Gunung Balong RT 07 RW 04 Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta. This visit is in collaboration with Komunitas Generasi Berkarakter, a community engaged in education, guidance, and coaching of children who care about the next generation of the nation. The purpose of the visit to SDN 01 Cilandak was none other than to provide early education about the environment to students at the school.
More than 500 students of SDN 01 Cilandak, ranging from grade 1 to grade 6 participated in activities with Panda Mobile. They were very enthusiastic in participating in all the activities carried out. The activity began with storytelling, where the children gathered to hear a story told by Kak Ryan about trees and animals. The activity continued with watching the movie "Tiger Hunter" and "Quartet of the Crossroad".
Not only listening to stories and watching movies, they also had the opportunity to directly check the water quality by using the water laboratory facilities owned by WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile. Facilities such as microscopes and litmus paper help them see the quality of water samples in the environment around them. The water observation activity was attended by students in grades 3-6. Meanwhile, students in grades 1 and 2 did coloring activities of umbrella animal pictures that are the focus of WWF-Indonesia's conservation.
After checking the water quality, the students were invited to relieve fatigue by participating in "Chiki-Chaka" games which aims to train concentration. All activities were guided and assisted by WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile volunteers. A total of six Panda Mobile volunteers participated in the activities which were carried out in turn or rolling. For approximately four hours, the Panda Mobile activity went well.
At the end of the activity, the Head of SDN 01 Cilandak conveyed several messages and hopes that educational activities like this can also be carried out for teachers and become a sustainable activity. The activity was closed with a group photo of all teachers, Panda Mobile volunteers, and members of the Generasi Berkarak character community on the field of SDN 01 Cilandak.
