BOGOR MOST LOVED CITY IN WE LOVE CITIES 2016 CAMPAIGN
The city of Bogor won the title of The Most Lovable City or the favorite city chosen by netizens in the We Love Cities 2016 global campaign. Bogor outperformed 45 other cities in 20 countries that participated in this social media popularity event. With the success of this title, Bogor proves its ability to mobilize public support to realize sustainable urban development.
The We Love Cities 2016 campaign started on April 26, 2016 and closed on June 30, 2016 by measuring the level of support of netizens through voting on the We Love Cities website and the use of the hashtag #WeLoveCities and the hashtags of participating cities on social media accounts Twitter and Instagram. In addition, netizens also provide input in the form of efforts that they want to realize for their respective cities to become sustainable cities.
"WWF-Indonesia would like to congratulate all Bogor citizens for their enthusiasm and support that has earned Bogor the title of The Most Loveable City in We Love Cities 2016. We hope that the Bogor city government can utilize this great public support as an asset to continue the efforts to transition Bogor city into a sustainable city", said Nyoman Iswarayoga, Director of Communication and Advocacy of WWF-Indonesia.
The global We Love Cities campaign is part of the Earth Hour City Challenge (EHCC) award event held annually by WWF since 2010. Earth Hour City Challenge 2016 was followed by 125 cities representing 21 countries, including the cities of Bogor, Jakarta and Balikpapan. Cities participating in the EHCC were judged on their level of ambition and innovation in developing smart solutions to tackle climate change to promote sustainable development at an advanced level in line with local conditions. Earth Hour City Challenge 2016 crowned Paris as the Global Earth Hour Capital and Jakarta as one of the recipients of the National Earth Hour Capital title.
To encourage the participation of citizens of each city in action to address climate change, WWF held a We Love Cities campaign on social media that invites the world's population to show their support for cities that are committed to efforts to become sustainable cities.
