WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile collaboration with the world youth organization, AIESEC, is expanding. This time, Panda Mobile collaborates with AIESEC Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). Seeing that the issue of waste is growing into a serious problem, the collaboration between Panda Mobile and AIESEC IPB was themed "Waste Management". There are six exchange program students involved in this project. They come from the Netherlands, Colombia, and India.
The collaboration between Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia and AIESEC IPB was opened with a briefing for the exchange program students so that they are ready to deliver material in the school visit activities with Panda Mobile which will be held on January 15-18, 2018. The briefing, which took place on Wednesday (20/12) in Dramaga, Bogor, was filled with an introduction to WWF-Indonesia by Pratama Aditya Haryanto, as WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile Coordinator.
In his presentation, Pratama also explained the facts about the waste problem in Indonesia and also the efforts that have been made by WWF-Indonesia to tackle the waste problem. Then the activity continued by watching a documentary film about waste problems in the world and focusing on the problems in Indonesia.
After knowing the facts and waste problems that occur in Indonesia, the AIESEC IPB students and Panda Mobile volunteers discussed how to tackle the waste problem. The participants were enthusiastic about the discussion. They plan to conduct a waste awareness campaign in areas around Bogor and provide knowledge to the community regarding proper waste management.
After the discussion, the AIESEC IPB students were asked to make a presentation on the theme of "Waste Management". In turn, they presented their opinions. "In my opinion, Indonesia should have more waste banks because waste banks are very helpful in reducing household waste and also helping local residents," said Ellen Hoorn, an exchange student from the Netherlands.
The students were also assisted by WWF-Indonesia's Volunteer Panda Mobile to create an array of waste management-themed presentations that will be delivered to students at the schools they will visit. Later they will also share information about waste management in their respective countries.
