Panda Mobile again conducted environmental education with SHARP in the SHARP Greenerator Batch II event last Saturday (25/02) and Sunday (26/02). The activity, which involved several facilitators from WWF-Indonesia, BOS Foundation, Terangi, Terasi, LIPI, and KRB, took place at the LIPI office on Pari Island, Kepulauan Seribu.
After room assignment, SHARP Greenerator participants gathered in the hall to get acquainted with the facilitators. One of the facilitators from WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile then broke the ice with a game. SHARP Greenerator participants were then divided into several discussion groups. They were explained that the vision of this community of environmental conservationists is to increase the knowledge of the younger generation about the importance of environmental conservation and biodiversity conservation.
The discussion was led by Idris from Terangi who invited participants to explain about the vision and mission of each group to become the frontline of Teenagers SHARP Greenerator. After each group made a presentation, they were invited to discuss and make presentations about the problems of plastic waste and styrofoam and find solutions to these problems. When the discussion session ended, all participants were invited to find a campaign jargon. Finally, it was concluded to use the jargon "Teenagers Save Nature".
The participants also had the opportunity to observe the marine conditions around Pari Island through snorkeling. Before starting snorkeling, the facilitator from Terangi explained how to snorkel properly so as not to damage the coral reefs which are the habitat of marine life.
In the evening, the Panda Mobile team invited the participants to watch a movie about the environment, namely "Quartet at the Crossroad", "We Are All Connected", and a video about installing the Guilty Print Device. Previously, they were introduced to WWF-Indonesia and its conservation efforts. The question and answer session about the message of the movie that has been watched took place warmly.
The first day of SHARP Greenerator was closed with a coaching clinic by all the partner NGOs. Pratama Aditya and Muhammad Azhari Lubis from Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia explained about renewable energy and the environment. They also invited the participants to watch a movie about energy and climate change.
On the second day of the activity, Greenerator participants went directly to clean the beach on Pari Island from plastic waste. Furthermore, they received material from LIPI and saw firsthand the processing of seaweed into jam by the local community. The participants also planted mangroves on the coast of Pari Island. The two-day activity was closed with an evaluation of the activities and impressions and messages from the participants.
